The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources organized a workshop on managing fishing areas for kingfish in GCC countries. The workshop was held over video conferencing under the patronage of Eng. Yaqoub Khalfan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Fisheries, with participation of representatives from GCC countries and ministry specialists.
In addition to assessing the status of fish stocks and fishing areas in the GCC for kingfish, the workshop will also discuss alternative and optimal options to implement the principle of sustainability for these fishing areas. The Permanent Committee for Fisheries in the GCC Secretariat General has approved the holding of this workshop in the Sultanate of Oman, since it hosts the electronic program for monitoring kingfish landings in the GCC countries since 2014. The workshop was also intended to discuss the outcomes of this program and the report related to it.
